I think I may need a pin to stop the roll back of the wheel because of the way it attaches to the crank. It took 4 tries to get the one I may need. These things are about 2 inches long - Turned on my 42 inch bed lath. (carefully) (18:01:2018)

This is where one of the missing parts were. The light colored wood is my replacement for what likely was leather. I made the oak thing to mount the leather to, but figured I would drill it first and see if it worked. (18:01:2018)

OK so try out the Goldberg fix and see if it will spin! Sort of works, but needs more work on the treadle system before a good test can be made. (18:01:2018)

Legs and treadle pulled off. I'm sure that this was made to be knocked down and the legs were pressure fit originally. But now they are so loose that they will have to be glued in. (18:01:2018)

The providence written on the bottom of the frame. Wish they had dated it!! (18:01:2018)

One of the pivot points for the treadle is going to have to be patched. It was worn from a 1/4 inch hole to a 3/4 inch slot. Drilled out the slot with a forstner bit (flat bottom hole) and turned a plug from a birch dowel. (18:01:2018)
|
Plug cut off sanded and drilled. Because of the way it was made in the first place it was easy to get the right compound angle to drill it out. There is a small hole through the leg in the right angle to be a guide. String is to keep the spacing while the glue dries. It looks like taking the slop out of this pivot has greatly reduced the roll back up top. (I hope) (20:01:2018)

Almost done. Flyer and spindle back in place after cleaning and polishing. Need to check for warps in the spindle without a bobbin mounted. After a little sanding it looks straight and true and clean! (20:01:2018)
|
Bobbin had a small crack in it! You know "don't play with things"? Well it broke into 3 when I tried to glue the crack! (20:01:2018)

All back together! If you look at the end of the flyer, you will see the glue job that was the original project! The flyer was in two parts to start with. (21:01:2018)
|
The whole wheel together again, and ready for testing once the glue in the legs dries over night! (20:01:2018)

Testing! Wheel works, just an invalid operator error! (21:01:2018)
|
The wheel spins way to fast for this occasional spinner, Couldn't keep the wheel spinning and hands coordinated enough to draft. (21:01:2018)
