These were left over after we switched to heating and cooling with a attic mounted heat pump. They are where the thermostats were mounted, one in each room.

This is what you get to work with after the cover is removed.

The job after the cover plate is removed, is to break the box away from it's mounting on the studs. Generally with two nails, one top and bottom of the box.

After the box is 'removed'. That is pushed sideways so you have room to work. The wiring is cut to fit when they are put in and getting clearance to actually remove the box is just not worth it. Now to fix the hole in the wall.

Cut a chunk of Sheet rock the right size, butter both it's sides and the sides off the hole. The screw is a handle to hold it straight while the first coat of mud is installed.

While we're at it the two controler boxes for the alarm system might as well go too.

So I went to Home Depot (hey it is less than a mile from home) to get a quart of matching paint and fine filler. When we moved in and were doing Reno's we discovered that the paint used to prep the house for sale came from Home Depot and they could colour match exactly to what had been used. Well no fine filler other than this, and no paint base in anything but gallons.

One more! This is a phone wall jack, that used a special type of box that could not be cut off the wall and pushed back.

Paint colour doesn't match that well in this light, but the cool white LED strip lighting over the espresso machine doesn't help at all, but at least the wall is flat and doesn't have the useless phone jack any more.

Now this one is going to be lots of fun! Even if one can move the dryer it sits on top of the washing machine, and if one drops anything (think sanding dust) both will have to be moved to clean up.
