Well yes I could have bought something like this but it had problems if I had! First it is used to drive the rebar that holds up our wire lily protectors. To drive them with a hammer works well, but it means Allan has to get his bad arm above his head and accurately strike the top of the rebar. This thing fits over the top of the rebar and brings the level where you have to hold it down around shoulder level.
It is made of 2 inch cast iron pipe and fittings and weighs in at about 6 pounds with a length of about 14 inches.

The handles are turned from a chunk of maple (likely from the big leaf maple that broke off in our back yard.) They are 5 inches long 1.25 inches in diameter and drilled while still on the lath.
I do wish I had cut the bolts off that 1/4 inch shorter. You might say there could be a hang up there if not careful.
